You need to open up the original authoring project and enable/disable the regions as desired. Then you need to output the entire project on DLT tape, as the region coding requires the use of 2054 byte sectors, not the 2048 byte sectors available on DVD-R.

It is unfortunate that the rollover capability you see during simulation in DVDSP is not part of the DVD Spec. Many customers see the type of effects possible in internet browsers, and then they insist that authors duplicate them in DVD.

We do this all the time and it works well. On Xpress DV, put the a copy of the final sequence into a new bin. Then exit the Avid software and, then find the project folder and the bin file inside it on the PC/Mac. The file has the name you gave the bin in Xpress DV. Copy this file onto whatever media the on-line facility wants (floppy, zip disk, etc.). If your Xpress DV is PC, use a PC-formatted disk; if on Mac, use Mac formatted. Do not match the on-line facility’s system or your sequence may be unusable.
Everything carries over into the sequence on Symphony (even audio levels, color corrections, effects, etc.) Problems arise where an effect was used in off-line that is not available in the on-line system. Symphony has the Xpress set of effects available, but if you used any kind of plug-in like Boris Efx or BCC, talk to your on-line editor.
To avoid delay and difficulty, send a disk with your sequence to the on-line facility in advance of your session to make sure they can load it in their Symphony.
Always bring a paper printout of your EDL (make in EDL Manager) plus a copy of the off-line cut on videotape.

FWIW I recently had one of these DVD-RAM discs with BWF files on it show up at our facility. We tried to open it on PC Symphony, Mac G4, Mac G5, etc. I have a DVD-RAM computer drive and could not read it on anything.
My best advice would be to inquire of an audio facility that does motion picture sound mixing. They would be most likely to have something that could read these discs. Or maybe you can get the sound man’s machine that recorded the DVD and transfer the audio. If you can get the files/audio into a Protools system, you can make anything you need for Symphony.

I’m using Medea RAIDs. Any drive system that pushes the data through the pipes fast enough will work. There are lots of reliable choices on the market.
Remember to turn off “Drive Filtering” if you use 3rd party drives. Avid drives come with data in an inaccessible part of the drive that tells the Avid software which compressions it is fast enough to handle.

Check to see if your boot drive is close to full. That will cause a problem exporting and importing.

I got a D.O.A. Mojo when I bought Xpress Pro. After about an hour of troubleshooting over the telephone, Avid replaced my Mojo promptly and without cost. I never had another problem, and my system has been rock solid ever since. I received good service from Avid tech support.
The folks in tech support are only trying to help you as best they can. They cannot see through the telephone, so they rely on you to tell them as best you can what is happening. Components not certified by Avid do create issues that they might not be able to solve for you.
It’s very important to use the exact version of operating system software specified by Avid. Don’t allow Microsoft or Apple to auto update your operating system or Quicktime. If it is working leave it alone. If you have issues, the first place to look might be updating the display driver software.

Check that the functions are mapped to the correct keys in the keyboard settings. As I recall, when I began using Xpress Pro, I needed to remap a few functions to match my keyboard.

The video cards to use are the ones Avid lists on its website. Those are tested with the sodtware and are known to work properly.
A number of people have asked about the Nvidia Geoforce 5700 video card in recent weeks, and all of them are having problems running Avid software. Not a surprise since these cards are not on Avid’s certified list. I recommend you get an Nvidia Quattro 980, which works fine.

That is correct. You must supply 2 DLT tapes for DVD-9 replication.
