I am currently running a custom built pentium 4 1.8 system with 2gb of memory and a Nvidia Geforce fx5700 video card. I am editing with avid xpress dv 4.6. I was wondering if this card was certified to run the avid software. I have been recentley having problems with avid playback and was wondering if my video card was at fault. Please let me know if anybody knows. Also i know what avid recommends because i have read aout it on their website but can somebody put a list on a reply that includes good video cards to use for avid.

it might help if you describe the problem you’re having. Just saying “I’m having problems on playback” leaves it kind of wide open… don’t you think?

The video cards to use are the ones Avid lists on its website. Those are tested with the sodtware and are known to work properly.

A number of people have asked about the Nvidia Geoforce 5700 video card in recent weeks, and all of them are having problems running Avid software. Not a surprise since these cards are not on Avid’s certified list. I recommend you get an Nvidia Quattro 980, which works fine.

Interesting… not only did I just do a search for GeForce 5700 cards over the past 2 months & only this current thread come up, but I’m using a PNY GeForce FX 5700VE with no problems at all. That’s why I was curious to what problems the original poster was having.

    I use a Nvidia 5900XT.

    No problems.

Have you recently changed your driver?
