Thanks for the help John!
The media, project and rendering settings are contained in the links below.
Source Media:
https://f1.creativecow.net/1234/test-file-v10-render-issuesI re-sized the media on the timeline to 2-seconds and applied a chromakey using the color dropper and clicking on the leaves in the lower-left. FX in both versions are default.
Project Settings
https://f1.creativecow.net/1235/rendering-isses-project-settinThe results are the same when using rendering to MPEG2 using the

I would uninstall 8.0a completely and download the upgrade to 8.0c.
OS=XP=Yes then make sure your running service pack 3, if your not get there. I believe service pack 3 installs the latest version of NET Framework, if not do this as well.
Uninstall Media Manager completely
See thread below.

Insertion of markers in DVD Architect is exactly the same as Vegas Pro, position cursor, hit M and name the marker. Once your markers are set scene selection will work for sub-menus.
Render your audio as AC3 and video as Mpeg2 as separate files. The audio Codec for Mpeg2 is the culprit here.

Everyone can play them is a tall order. Many folks with netbooks are limited to NTSC DV, myself included.
Render WMV and load them to Youtube. Youtube parses your upload into different resolutions quite nicely taking care of the everyone issue elegantly. You can link videos if you go over the 15-minute limit. I have settled on the 6.4 mps template within 8.0c as it does a nice job and is tailored for streaming.
Use HQ MPEG2 if you want the highest quality and compatibility accross platforms.

Use a Chromakeyer. Tested works like a champ.

I had some significant hair-pulling when I transitioned from NTSC DV to 1080p with AVCHD. It took me a combination of things that made thing progressively better. No guarantees / your mileage may vary.
Turn off media manager and disable all services that use it.
Check your event viewer, specifically application and systems for errors. Resolve errors you see and keep moving forward.
Split your OS paging file across multiple drives.
Don’t render to C:drive
Check disk space on all applicable drives.
Degragment early and often diskeeper is a great piece of SW for this.
Use enditall SW to kill all unnecessary processes before opening your editor.
Download a trial of Cineform Neoscene and convert to intermediate format and try editing with that.
Good luck,
