I currently am using Sony Vegas Pro 8

I have spent 6 hours editing a music video and I have latle been having 2 problems.

    1. Vegas keeps crashing (usually when I open the project or when i try to play the project) it either freezes and waits to respond until i have to close it manually or it displays an error in which the program itself crashes. The error code presented is

Please explain what I could do to fix this issue.

    2. If my project ever does open some of the video files presented are red or black and nothing shows up on the preview screen.

What do I do to fix this?

“Please explain what I could do to fix this issue.”

For starters, upgrade to 8.0c as there were a lot of bug fixes since 8.0a that may resolve your problems.

I would uninstall 8.0a completely and download the upgrade to 8.0c.

OS=XP=Yes then make sure your running service pack 3, if your not get there. I believe service pack 3 installs the latest version of NET Framework, if not do this as well.

    Uninstall Media Manager completely

Did you update to Vegas Pro 8.0c as Mike suggested? Did that get you any further using 8.0c?

Ok, now I have done multiple things, I reinstalled 8.0 and upgraded to c.
I got vegas 10 and set my DEP settings to sony vegas.
The programs no longer crash but now the problem is that my files wont render due to the fact that I dont have enough memory even though I am running on 3 gigabytes of ram.
When I checked the cpu and memory usage of my computer it says that my computer was using 1.8 gigabytes of physical memory.
I tried cacheing a usb but it did not help.
Does this mean I should delete some files or just increase my RAM?

[vlad jensson] “Does this mean I should delete some files or just increase my RAM?”

Increasing your RAM will not help because you are using a 32-bit OS which can’t see more than 3GB of memory. You need to upgrade to a 64-bit OS and buy more RAM.

    Hi

I am having the same crashing problems, but im on Vegas 9d, my computer is set up as Etc:

    64Bit Windows 7
    8Gb DDR3 Ram
    2Gb DD5 Graphics Card

I have edited est. 2min of footage from an Sony NX5 at 25FPS, the program is extremely slow, and when i get to about 2 min vegas 9d freezes and wont stop freezing, even after changing the ram usage under the preferences?

This is extremely irritating, and limits my creativity in Vagas 9d to the max!

    PLEASE HELP
PS: dont even try Canon 5D footage, it will never work!!

[Shawn van Zyl] “I am having the same crashing problems, but im on Vegas 9d, my computer is set up as Etc:”

Have you tried Vegas Pro 9.0e? The latest bug fixes are in 9.0e not 9.0d. It might or might not solve your problem.

[Shawn van Zyl] “PS: dont even try Canon 5D footage, it will never work!!”

From what I’ve read the Canon 5D footage works great with Vegas Pro 10. You should probably take a serious look at 10.0 if you are using a Canon 5D.
