  • Removing Blue Halos Around Shirts

I just looked at editing my daughter’s band concert. The band members were wearing white colored shirts. There are a number of areas where there are some blue halos bordering some of the white shirts. This is most noticeable when the white is on a black background such a shirt in front of a music stand. What is the proper method to remove these artifacts? Thanks.

I hate white shirts at a shoot:( I’m interested to see if anyone has any magic. In my workflow I would be looking at my b-roll and cutaway shots to simply remove these scenes. You could also do something artistic like using the newblue cartoonr.

    Post a sample.

    Cheers

What format were you shooting? What camera? I’ve never seen this in HD but have seen stuff like this in SD.

I would use the secondary color corrector i.e., Sony Color Corrector (Secondary) and target the blue and make it either black or white.

I am using a Sony CX-500V camcorder and recorded this segment at 1920×1080-60i at 16 Mbps. I am attempting to include a clip demonstrating the finding. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Use a Chromakeyer. Tested works like a champ.

Added white balance filter and Color curves in the chain after color-curves and have it looking good.

    Best of luck

Bill, your advise was spot on. I now have one sharp looking video. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out on this.
