On a side note, I have had issues building and burning out of DVDSP. I have since altered my workflow to build out of DVDSP and burn with Toast. Since I swtitched to Toast for burning I have not had one compatibility issue.

This information was obtained somehwere on the cow in the past year or two.. a search my lead you there.

Well, if sd drop frame is useless than a majority of the users will pull it off their dock after install. Look forward to an update by time it hits the shelves. Maybe they bit off a little more then they could chew at one time. Or, maybe someone sent out a fake email stating FCS2 was ready for deployment.

Word has it they have been shuffling staff like crazy to meet the deadlines for FCS2, iPhone and Leopard. I have no doubt the problem will be addressed asap.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Currently the facility is SD with some stuff shot in HDV, but looking at building a system that will fly with DVCPROHD in the near future.
This is an brand new suite being built that includes a new 8 Core MacPro, Kona 3 w/BOB, Kona IO LA, and a HD10AVA to take the HDV in as DVCPROHD via Kona 3.

Please correct me if I am mistaken but currently The Sonnet units comparable to the CalDigits are not available.

I am sure these will not be stripped together so I may continue with the CalDigits. I just became gun shy after a previous thread that exposed Walter’s issues but I must have speed read the fact it was isolated to the stripping.

there are some good schools out htere but you may try lynda.com. there are also tons of free tutorials and podcasts out there that will lead you in the right direction. My advice would be check out the free stuff then experiment. The cow itself offers a nice variety of tutorials.

make sure you are looking in the nest created by the .psd and not on the sequence you dropped it into.

I have had issues with effects switching order in the effects pallet. You can create them in the effects pallet then drag them into the browser where you can rearrange them. And as mentioned already you can save them with the project and they will be safe when you trash your prefs. bins

January 30, 2007 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Lumi Shift on .mov export.

The shift is going from 0-255 and bumping the blacks up to 7.5 and the whites around 110.

Our graphics package has alot of blacks so the Graphics Dept. is concerned their design is being beat down because of this.

QT ref files will not work with Rohzet and our NAS Editshare system. I have tested this in so many different ways my head is going to spin off. I have done more research on Rhozet and have since learned Rhozet does not require a specific quicktime codec. I will test different .avi’s as well as Meridian codecs that are native to the Avid on the PC platform.

Thanks for your comments thus far.

I will openly admit sometimes I can make a mountain out of a molehill. As in this situation. Reality is, a longer render time is acceptable in short promos. Why complicate things more than you have to. So, board mods please feel free to strike this entire thread on behalf of a late friday freak out.

    Shane,
Major longday syndrom on my part. I meant DVCPRO HD. After the day I had I am surprised I got that much right. Anyways, I have read just about every post on HDV workflow and native HDV is pretty much junk. You have to have all this trick apps to get it into an actual codec you can cut with and then spend hours reconforming it for output. Everything I read said the easiest way is to go through a Kona card via component analog and have it come in DVCPRO HD. That is the best method that will give you somehting you can cut with instantly.

Can you please describe your HDV workflow on FCP. I would like to keep it in the FCP realm.
