The Kona 3 Manual states:
DV50 / 27gb/hr
DV25 / 14gb/hr
PhotoJPEG / 9gb/hrI used DV25 and it came out around 47gb/hr. I must have done something wrong.

a 3 hour mini series. The default is DV which I assume is DV25. It works. It was about 140gb for 190 minutes which seems high to me. I was looking more toward 20-25 gb an hour.

Also make sure there is no leader being laid down first. It could possibly be checked in your “Mastering Settings” tab inside the ETT window.

I recently had this issue with one of our systems running 5.1.2. The problem was FCP was rendering the files to the System Drive. Although the prefs had it pointing to the NAS it still kept them locally. I would make sure the render files are going where they are supposed to be. Our NAS company was aware of the problem and said other users were seeing similar issues. Our 2 other seats render just fine to the NAS. I have since trashed all the prefs and it seems to be better. We are waiting to finish testing FCS2 on our test system before letting it loose in the work environment.

David,
Matter of fact I do. I have the wireless key for the mouse plugged into the keyboard. Recently I switched from one brand to the fancy logitech with the thumb wheel that I use for zooming in and out. Works very nicely. Anyways, The previous use had a long cable and the mouse hub was behind my keyboard. The new mouse only had the usb dongle so I figured the keyboard would be the best place for the least inteference. I will try the usb on a monitor and if that is still sluky I will just plug it in down below.
THANKS AGAIN! I apologize for jacking the thread.

Thanks to all of you for your efforts in working out the kinks for the rest of us. This is truly a “pay it forward” community. Every one has their turns in sharing and receiving information.
As a side note has anyone had issues with 5.1.2 and when you use the mouse wheel to change the numerical properties in either filter, text, or even transition settings. My pointer will disappear when in FCP. When I switch to a different app it reappears until I switch back to FCP. A relaunch of FCP brings it back until I return to the old habit of scrolling again.

[Borjis] “how long does it take to clone a drive?”
It depends on the drive.
It takes longer to fill up saddle tanks on a semi then it does a Honda Civic.
Sorry, for the sly remark but with the price of gas….I had to fit it in somehwere.
CCC has always worked for me. I rotate 2 drives out. Flip flop them with regular back ups weekly.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the input. I tried to do as much research before letting loose with the purchases. We use so many different devices for acquisition we had to budget according to priority and quality. Of coarse the HVR is from an initial package deal that was purchased when the Z1 took the market by storm a few years ago. So, we are stuck with it for awile. It is in the facilities production workflow now as one of the main forms of material that is shot. Clients still send in spots on SP and everything is mastered back to SP for playback in the arena. I am a bit hesitant with the whole DV/HDV workflow because of the inconsistancy in timecode and tracking. As most in this business are also, organization is an obsession for me. It is very hard to load in footage knowing your notes are the only thing that will save you later. If your array goes down you cannot simply load in the tape, go have a fancy 5 dollar latte come back and everything is happy go lucky. (*$’s should be considered an illegal substance. the addiciton factor is dangerous)
Once FCS2 is tested I might consider going back to the old school with SD DVCAM footage by just loading it in DV NTSC directly through the PCIe firewire card since it will slide right into the 8bit sequence w/out rendering. Still havign the option to go in with the HDV via KONA3 if needed.

I found the deck control answer.
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/98/860733?But, does everything else seem in order? I have gone over this a million times and it seems I am overlooking something. As of now it all works except the HVR which I will get the appropriate cabling this weekend and implement on Tuesday.
I can’t than k the cow enough for getting me this far.I forgot to mention I have house black being fed direct to the decks and the devices seperately.
