just hold option, click on the x rotation and type in “time” and that’ll do it (if i understand you correctly)

it’s going to be mighty slow, though. might want to add some “*10” or “*100” or something.

this definitely helps, and i really appreciate the videos. they are actually the most helpful because it allows me to see your project and the hierarchy, which is something i’m still a little unsure of.

    thanks!

i think that’s what i’m trying. is there a trick to it? do they have to be editable?

  • thanks for responding. i have actually tried both having the point control on the precomp itself and a separate null, which was above the lyaer.

i’ll try some variations, but is there any other way one might control what’s inside a comp from outside of it?

April 30, 2008 at 6:03 pm in reply to: controlling Point Control in a precomp

i have a new question. i’ve got a Point Control outside of the precomp to control moving pictures within it.

it works fine until i keyframe it. then i lose my control, nothing happens.

    ???

  • After some searching I realized this can be a common problem and there’s not always one solution. I had forgotten about how having effects on will break things, but I actually found things worked the way they should when I took my position expression off the camera, which I suppose makes sense, in that maybe expressions are not interpreted the same in all areas as keyframing.
