i saw a recent post about controlling an angle control within a precomp, how can i switch it to controlling a point control instead?

i’m using Dan’s reverse IK for just the right arm (using all the same labels, precomp is called “arm”)

but i’m using it in a 2.5d character, so the precomp is 2D but it goes into a 3D comp.

i just want to be able to move the r hand effector from outside of the precomp

Try opening your comp with the control and selecting the layer that has the control on it.

Then LOCK the effects pane and switch to the comp that needs the expression. You can then use the pick whip to choose the point control. When you’re done, click the Lock again.

Post back if that’s not enough info.

thanks for the response. i was actually able to figure it out by the code alone, but your method is clearly easier and i really appreciate your help.

i have a new question. i’ve got a Point Control outside of the precomp to control moving pictures within it.

it works fine until i keyframe it. then i lose my control, nothing happens.

    ???
