    Ok.

After further investigation it looks like this issue is isolated to one of our machines – another one with a clean install of CS4 is fine – the one in question had a previous installation of 6.5 and CS3 that were deactivated and removed. Possibly something corrupted along the way.
    Will try a re-install.

Have you tried looking at enabling the depth of field parameter in particulars render mode setting? (Full Render + DOF Square AE)
This should do precisely what you want. (Requires Particular version 1.5). Then all you need to do is enable depth of field on your camera.

Thanks very much Michael. I was able to resolve my issue through user operations/disabling the next button for the last chapter in the track that was doing strange things and it seems all ok.

Sorry to write this off the back of your problem but I am having a very similar issue at the moment – when using the chapter skip button on the last chapter of my track rather than returning to the dvd menu specified in the end jump it simply replays the first chapter on my play all menu.
I don’t have a fix at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

August 27, 2008 at 8:39 pm in reply to: Boris Title 3d rendering glitch

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for your response.
I haven’t contacted apple as yet.

Unfortunately it seems to be an intermittent problem but we may have isolated the problem to one machine which is an older intel based Apple. It seems that the problem only occurs on sequences created on this machine – but is then evident when the sequence is opened on other machines. The other funny thing is that the texts leading/kerning settings seem to become “embedded” into the text tool so that if you make and adjustment and then later go back to change it the settings “zero out” but retain the adjustment made visually.

The titles are longer than a second. Around 3 seconds on average.
I’ll try cutting the text clips in half and see if they do different things on either side of the cut.

Not sure if its possible to uninstall/reinstall the Boris Title 3d plugin without reinstalling all of FCP but that may be my next step.

    Cheers,

    Ben

For a 4:3 Pal frame 720 x 576 D1/DV non square pixels (1.07) would be what I would use. What DVD authoring software are you intending on using to create the DVD? That will probably determine where/how you set chapter markers.

    Problem solved.
Problem resolved by rendering without fields.

  • Thanks so much Eric. This is great. Out of curiosity would you think consider it dangerous to use less than a second of black?

    Cheers,

    Ben
