this is one of the big let downs in the software

I think it will be very good when they properly implement something like aperture does, until then its not fit for purpose when copy paste effects

it re-writes the crop and other FX as well as colour corrections making it really not useful

I mapped 2 and 3 to expand collapse tracks

not sure if tracks are needed for this, more a form of auto bussing using roles and recording live to a new connected clip or keyframe and fx control track that acts like a track with a role added to it that

suppose what I am suggesting is like using the adjustment track trick (using blank title template to apply filters to clips underneath) for audio instead of visuals

the source window has 2 particular functions which is needed which is ganging to check reference quicktimes or for proper replace edits. these will I imagine appear, however I really doubt the source window as it was will reappear, it isnt needed like people percieve it to.

    think this sounds very convoluted

FCPX is perfectly able as an editing package, yes avid has slightly better trimming for more experienced editors

if you are working on corporate work which I know goes through many changes/iterations I would say the magnetic timeline will save you a lot of time. if you are only ever doing basic audio mixes then FCPX is far faster than the competition. if you are doing multi format and multi cam productions FCPX is far better experience. graphics like you have noticed are much faster to create and cleaner looking in fcpx than fcp7 or avid/premiere.

I would also say it is crazy for your staff to learn 2 massive pieces of software to achieve the same outcome, go with one not 2.

if you need training in Avid or FCPX let me know, I work at an acrredited training centre called VET in London and we can assist.

    • play range to export clips
    • copy paste effects thats actually useful for grading or metadata e.g. like aperture has
    • proper colour wheels in colour corrector
    • hue curves
    • no big project bloat
    • keyboard commands for colour correction or some form of modality
    • colour correction/audio filering auto-applied via metadata
    • transitions working across composite modes on connected clips
    • midi controllers
    • audio bussing or outputs based on roles
    • paint/roto tools
    • send to motion
    • OMF export native instead of 3rd party
    • some form of locking on timeline to not allow for rippling (no the position tool isnt sufficient here)
    • shared projects
    • metadata mapping
  • useful thanks

opening an old project that was then updated to new version seemed to slow down significantly not sure if this is a good test though
