I took the plunge and have been using the Pagagon NTFS for over a month. I have not experienced any problems with permissions on scratch disks. Ime getting 45/50 ms/S Off them.
Not usre about people saying you need to use NFS+, there was one person on the thread and they did not say if they were using the crappy free NTFS drivers or the great Paragon ones.

Thanks everyone, the 160 step thing seems very good advice. In terms of my original question what do people think is a sensible maximum ISO to use for low light. Will 3200 give decent results or is it better to stay at 1600?

Long story but when things are reorganised the will be Mac formatted. Was using Vegas and FCP7 but when FCPx comes along will probably transfer totally.

I know stuff going off-line is common but having to tell FCP to ignore attributes is something that I thought is a lot less common. So you don’t think it is a NTFS thing?
This tie I managed to reconnect but previously I totally lost some footage.

Its SATA drive in a RAID 10 enclosure connected to Mac via Fi rewire 800.

Its a RAID 10 array of 2 2GB Samsung Spinpoint Drives. Its actually a NTFS file system with Paragon NTFS. I did spend some time on apple technical forums and people seemed to think that alough the free NTFS was to be avoided the paid for versions were OK.

I totally agree, I did the tests myself. My hearing is not very good and the preamps even at low levels made the sound rubbish. I used Magiclantern to turn them off and did the tests with a Senhhizer radio mic which pushes out a hotter enough signal that the preamps are not needed. So it was a like for like test.
