    Hi,

Check out this video by Rob Correll of Cine-tal – https://www.cine-tal.com/Training Videos/cal.plasma.wmv

A great video which talks about why color management, calibration are important, and how does the Davio will help display devices like Panasonic plasma.

September 10, 2007 at 6:05 pm in reply to: 720/59.94P editing in 59.94fps or 29.97fps?

    Hi,

Thanks for all your advice here!
We did a few tests & this is a bit more tricky than we thought,

    1. 720/59.94P is definitely Non-Drop Frame (NDF) in FCP 6

    2. US broadcast requirements is Drop Frame (DF)

We did some tests & here’s what we found,

    1. Copy & Paste 720/59.94P NDF media into a 720/29.97P DF timeline = visual/audio out of sync

    2. Copy & Paste 720/59.94P NDF media into a 720/29.97P NDF timeline = in sync

    3. Edit to Tape 720/59.94P NDF media/timeline into HD-D5 VTR at 720/59.94P DF = timecode/visual out of sync

May I know how should we handle this situation correctly, without converting to 1080/29.97P?
As the broadcasting stations are asking for 720/59.94P DF.

August 1, 2007 at 6:17 am in reply to: P2 Metadata Import In FCP 6

    Hi Marcus,

    Thanks for your reply.

I tested Raylight yesterday and it performed as you mentioned.

I do have some concerns about changing the filenames, and maintaining the link between the P2 MXF and QuickTime reference movies.
Most prob, we will stick with the original MXF filename, to reduce the strain of maintaining a database.

    Cheers,
    Ben

February 6, 2007 at 3:28 pm in reply to: ATTO Celerity HBAs on QLogic switches

    Hi Shane,

    Thanks for your advice.

    Here’s what I did,

I/O Stream Guard (for XServe RAID) – Disable
I/O Stream Guard (for ATTO HBA) – Enable

Device Scan (for XServe RAID) – Enable
Device Scan (for ATTO HBA) – Disable

Port Type (for XServe RAID) – F
Port Type (for ATTO HBA) – Auto

    So far, testing went fine.

I like to check if the XServe RAID driver 1.0 is required on Mac OS X 10.4.8?
Hope you can advice me its function as well.

    Cheers
    Ben

December 15, 2006 at 8:48 am in reply to: Kona LHe – Is the data rate always different?

    Hi Bob,

I downgraded the Kona driver from 3.3 to 3.0, as the FCP is 5.0.4.
So far the data rate is more constant, around 26.7MB/s.

A weird issue that has been bugging this system is the mouse cursor disappear, during editing or no user or system activity after a while, e.g 30min.

We swapped the boot disks, different versions of Mac OS X and replaced the motherboard and CPU before.

Next I’m going to swap the ram and replace with new ones.

    Cheers
