    Hi,

I like to seek advice from fellow QLogic FC switch users.

Wonder if you encounter any issue connecting Mac Pros (with Apple/LSI FC HBAs and Mac OS X 10.5.x) to QLogic FC switches with 7.4.0.16 firmware?

Another question is about stacking 2 existing QLogic 5602 to 1 new QLogic 5800V.
The 2 existing QLogic 5602 are running firmware 5.0.1.10.0, while the new QLogic 5800V is running 7.4.0.16 or earlier.

Should I update the existing QLogic 5602 to the same firmware as the 5800V?

I read in QLogic forum, it’s recommended to update to 6.8.0.03 first, then to 7.4.0.16.
Wonder if you have any similar experience?

    Cheers,

    No issues. Works well.

If you want to stack, then they should all be on the same firmware.

I read in QLogic forum, it’s recommended to update to 6.8.0.03 first, then to 7.4.0.16.

This is recommended only if you need to do a hot upgrade (without losing any connectivity). If you can do a reset on teh switches (meaning take the san down, update firmware, restart switches, bring san back up) then you can go straight from 5.x to 7.4.0.16. This is what we did and it’s all working very well, qlogic is very solid.
