Yes Dan,
I m being so cautious/detail-oriented cause this is the part where multiclip either sings or becomes trouble. Changes made in the browser will be saved, right? meaning I can sync everything, assign angles, make a multiclip and my angels assignments will remain as I renamed them?
Micromanaging this particular detail,

Walter, Tom, Dave!
Thanks for the replies!
I am searching all of the options you mentioned and realizing that I have to overhaul what I know.
This is a bigger transition that I thought.
Well, at the end of it all, when my gear is where it needs to be, I’ll finally be able to share the HD glee with you fine people…..

February 10, 2006 at 3:58 pm in reply to: PLEASE HELP- COMPRESSOR DOES NOT WORK- MY WORK SCHEDULE IS SUFFERINGOkay-
It appears I should have sat on that one a little longer.
I downloaded the update (2.0.1), and, as of this writing, I am cautiously optimistic.
Here’s what I think happened (a cautionary tale)
1. When I installed Studio the first time, I believe that Norton Auto-Protect may have been running in the background.
2. Because of the faulty install, my Compressor interface had strange extras on it, like an FCP preview window, leading me to believe that since Norton may have put up its walls during the first install, Compressor 2 was acting as a stand-alone app and therefore there was an FCP/Compressor conflict insetad of a collaboration.
2a. Months of around the city freelancing where I had to wear nice clothes and be presentable.
3. I did a meticulous, by-the-very-word reinstall today and all appears to be well. I am back on the horse. It was a ridiculous mistake that brought me here- don’t let it happen to you.
Thank you and goodnight. See you at NAB or something.

January 30, 2006 at 5:08 am in reply to: Pardon the bump, but…how does one troubleshoot Compressor 2?Hello again-
In addition to work here at the suite I have been busy working on another bay which is my system exactly, with the addition of a 2.8TB Xraid. Does the fast storage facilitate ease of use with Compressor 2?

January 30, 2006 at 4:50 am in reply to: Compressor 2- “Failed: Media server application unexpectedly quit” How to fix?Is there a setting that needs to be changed? I’m amazed at the lack of info/responses about this. Either we are the only people experiencing this or the solution is so simple that nobody feels the need to embarrass us with a response.
I really miss the old setup (FCP 4.5, etc) for ease of use, though.

You rule, and, by extension, I rule. Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks! I’m sending (the client) along a new stack of streams using this method. If all is not well at this point I will assume the client is tech-challenged and offer a personal delivery so I can peep his setup. It’s a gov’t office, so I’m assuming maybe they are on some dinosaur gear*.
As always, I appreciate the help.
Now that I’ve given’r and Compressed an .mp4 file….
Q. A funny Compressor phenomenon: a 10MB file becomes a 37.5MB file. Not the best size 4 the average web person. At the risk of stating another post, how does one manage the end file size, assuming that my original method for doing this (opening an mp4 in QT and exporting as ‘self-contained’ to make it an .mov for the world to see) is problematic for windows (L)users?Bee
*naturally and of course we are having lighthearted ha-has and are not making global statements about the gov’t workplace. Ahem.
