yep, RAM preview with audio marked on.
you can also do : hold the CTRL key and scrub throug the timeline, if everthing is okey, you can here your sound.this is better for timing and stuff, you can also use markers for timing (the star/asterix key on numberpad to make one)

value. But let’s say I want to take 10 text layers and move them to random positions in 3D space, but only change the Z value. Is this possible to brainstorm,

you can split the x/y/z position values in AE (xyz splitter or something , it’s in standard effects/plugin set come with AE

brainstorms sounds cool, don’t have CS3 yet. but yeah, i like doing more myself then just letting things happen.

i always edit in Premiere pro first. then bring the whole package into AE. give the footage nice color correction and put all my stunning effects to it. then render out in AE.

    here something you can do:

-Edit your clip/movie in Premiere. than save your project.

-open After Effects. file>import, then import your Premiere Pro project file.

-now you see your clips in the project panel and very important a sequence file.

-double click on that sequence file (important: do not move it into the timeline, just double click). and all your seperate scenes/shots/files (cut in Premiere pro) appear in the timeline in AE as seperated layers (also transitions and styles from Premiere PRo are imported).

-then use coole effects on them separedly. if you wanne render in AE, your done here.

    render out in Premiere :

-then save your AE file. and if you wanna render it out in Premiere pro, just open the AE project file in Premiere.

-then only 1 clip will appear, but you’ve edit this the first time in PP and allready applied effects on it in AE, so no prob there 🙂

There is also a dynamic link feature. but that’s only recommanded if you wanna put 1/ a few special effect/dvd menu or whatever from AE to PRemiere pro. then if you make changes in AE it will automaticly update in your PRemiere pro project. pretty cool stuff.

hope this helps you finding a overal view of all this

    heey

yeah, watching some tutorials how to use AE is recommanded, the classroom book can be a little rough when reading it through 😉

i you want something that is allready pre-made, hmm. there arn’t alot disney opening stockfootage^^.
here are normal opening stockfootage if you wanna spent your money on that (bit expense 500 bugs) :

    https://www.artbeats.com/prod/product.php?pg=2&id=274.

i suggest or learning AE real quick (the basics) or ask someone who allready knows AE for making your cartoon intro.

you can find al the tutorials you need on this website, under tutorials and at the podcast section.

    heey

for sounds. just buy a soundtrack cd of some disney cartoons, there are alot out there so.
for an intro. i would suggest, get some cartoons figures (from the net or stockfootage) cut them out in for example photoshop. and in pp2 make them fly one by one to the camera or so or figure something out what you like. there are tons of things you can imagine for yourself

I would realy use After effects for stunning effects, but you only have pp2. and making very cool intro’s in pp2 can then be abit difficult.

the mask would move in a straight line… Not very floating bubble-like

Ah, i see your point. hmm, tricky question then, without frame by frame work.

and ofcourse, i used the layer mapping technic to put a very realistic speaker texture on it. but still it looks fake (to perfect, sharp edges, etc)

i want is to be able to move a mask as I would anything else. I want a round bubble shaped mask to float over a layer, breaking through ONE layer

ehm, sorry if I too don’t understand you. but if you do the follow:
keyframe your mask shape at the beginning were you want. let say your round mask is in the left top corner. now go to the end of your comp and simply position it to for example the right under corner.
now the mask will folow that path…. not that hard right??

you can also do a trackmate if you have a something to track..

look at for example (one of many’s) http://www.videocopilot.net tutorial and then the demon face one.

and remember, don’t sit to long behind your pc screen, working on something, bacause it isn’t good for your temper 😉
