It’ll record 1080/24p, 1080/24pa, 1080/30p, 1080/60i, and 720/60p, 720/30p, 720/24p with or without variable frame rates. Only restriction is that you’ll have to run the variable-frame-rate footage through a frame extraction utility in order to use it as VFR footage (same process as what you have to do with VariCam footage).

Yeah, that’s pretty much how it works.
Every time you toggle the camera between modes (from MCR back to CAMERA, for example) it’ll lose a frame or two. And that’s the first thing you have to do, is toggle from MCR back to camera. So you’re always going to be off by a couple of frames. And if you toggle back to playback/MCR mode, you’ll lose a couple more frames.
What we typically do is start them in sync, then shoot the master camera’s LCD to make sure that all the cameras have a visual reference. If your battery dies, you’ll have to re-shoot the master’s LCD.
It’s better than nothing, but it’s far from perfect. The firewire sync will get you in the ballpark but it won’t be absolutely frame accurate.

The strobing probably comes from the auto knee circuit. Auto knee is almost never the right answer, and it’s unfortunate that it comes as a default in some of the scene files.
If you’re using cinelike-D gamma, that will be the best you can get in controlling the overexposure and getting rid of the auto knee. If you’re using one of the normal gammas, go into the “KNEE” menu and set it to “LOW” instead of AUTO, and save that scene file.
The only way to deal with blown-out windows is to either cut the amount of light coming in from it (through gelling the window with ND or setting up nets or something like that) or to increase the amount of light in the room to narrow down the contrast difference between your subject and the bright window.

The program is administered by Panasonic USA. Each territory of Panasonic is governed by a different marketing company (such as Panasonic Canada, Panasonic Singapore, Panasonic Europe, etc). Yes that understanding is correct.
The camera shoots progressive footage. It records it in an interlaced “wrapper”, since 1080 DVCPRO-HD is an interlaced codec. But the footage is progressive. It’s progressive footage being carried in an interlaced basket. Yes the NLE will recombine the fields to restore it to its original progressive nature.

Are you using the “push to infinity” button? Or just spinning the ring up to infinity? Because the HVX will actually focus “past” infinity. To verify if there’s something wrong, use the push-to-infinity button. If it’s sharp then, there’s nothing wrong.

That is specifically, exactly, 100% not what you want to do. That will lead to the mushed frame situation.
The camera does not always shoot 60fps. It shoots however many frames you want, just like a film camera does.
