One thing that you could try is to only look at the first card of the spanned clip in question.
In other words, make sure that the only directory that L&T is looking at is the first card of the spanned clip.
The first part of the clip should import. Then eject that card and add the second card containing the second half of the spanned clip. That clip should also import on it’s own. Then just put the 2 back together.
If either clip doesn’t come in, try copying the mxf structure back to a P2 card and see if everything is okay. The clips may need to be repaired in camera.

High Point makes cards that work with most flavors of the Mac OS. I have used other cards that use the Silicon Imaging chip that don’t work under Leopard.

If you are shooting with HVX200, you will bring in the footage via Log & Transfer as DVCProHD.
I am just curious where the ProRes conversion is happening in your workflow?

You need to make sure that the camera is using “type 2” metadata first. Then, to use this metadata in FCP, you will need to upgrade to FCP7 or use a program like Raylight or MXF4mac.
All previous versions of FCP do not read P2 metadata. FCP7 is the first version to read the user clip name field.

The new feature lets you send a timeline to compressor where it becomes a background process. That part is great, as you can continue to edit.
I just happen to look to see if I could import some P2 footage and noticed that the Log and Capture and Log and Transfer options were grayed out.
It is still a great feature, because editing can still be done while compression is happening WITHOUT making a separate QT.

If you download and install P2CMS (free) from Panasonic’s web site you should be able to open individual .MXF files into FCP or QT.
Note that doing this will produce a QT without audio, but maybe that is not a big concern.

December 1, 2008 at 1:50 pm in reply to: Time laps / speed recording over 24 hrs using a HPX500I did a frame a minute for about 12 hours, and I generated a 30 second file. You do not need multiple cards at that rate, one will do it.

Just remember that the actual “scene” and “take” fields do not auto increment.
The only field that will advance with each recording is the “user clip name”.
While the scene and take fields might be useful, it would require separate metadata files for each scene and/or take.
I usually create one metadata file per scene, and use the clip name for the takes.
