To benefit from the USB 3 on the new MPB, you may want to consider the pcd30.

AVC-Intra is a 10 bit codec, so if I were shooting green screen I would want it in AVC-Intra 100.

I have just worked 10 days with FCPX 10.0.3 and P2 in DVCProHD 720p24 and AVC Intra 1080p24 without any issues.
Where is your event stored? Have you tried a different volume?

November 12, 2011 at 1:21 am in reply to: P2 cards don’t mount using a Qio when booted into 64-bit Kernel.Kevin,
My experience with the QIO was been troublesome. I have tried almost every variation of P2 card readers, and the Panasonic readers are the most reliable. Maybe not the cheapest, but always work.
I have PCD20 and PCD35 running with Lion.
My advice, ditch the QIO and get a real reader.

October 9, 2011 at 8:00 pm in reply to: New Ultra High-Speed SDHC Memory Cards for Pro UseThe benefits of AVC Ultra will not just be felt on AVCCAM. With AVC Intra, the max quality is 100mb, but in AVC Ultra, you will see 200mb and 400mb flavors that will only be achievable on P2 cards.
P2 workflow has been established, while the AVCCAM workflow is still developing, so I don’t see P2 going away any time soon.

October 9, 2011 at 11:22 am in reply to: New Ultra High-Speed SDHC Memory Cards for Pro UseI think the pro cards are a good step towards something equivalent to a P2 card, they are just lacking some of the workflow features like being able to format with serial number. I wrote a quick summary of the new Pro SD card features here.
Panasonic has announced a new AVCUltra series of codecs, and there is one that is destine for AVCCam cameras, a 50mb 10 bit codec. You can read about it here:

September 11, 2011 at 1:30 am in reply to: Speeding things up… P2 workflow….ShotPutProThe only single card reader is the PCD2, USB2.0
The PCD35 is fast , and I use it on my tower with the included PCI card, and in my laptop with an E34 to PCIE adapter.
Shotput will make the offload quicker in some circumstances, like with a PCD35, because it can offload the the cards at the same time.
There are other benefits of SPP, but without a multi card reader, the speed gain is minimal.

Unfortunately, no.
I would love P2CMS to handle AVCHD clips in the same way.

There is a series of videos that worked on for Panasonic for the HMC40 camera. Many of the menus are the same between the cameras.
The videos are free to view. Panasonic.com/avccam
