I will probably upgrade laptops to the new Retina MBP 15″, but am waiting for the infrastructure to catch up. I’m using the Panasonic AJ-PCD2G to off load P2. (One USB for power, the other for data) — I am assuming that I can use the 1 USB 3 of the new MBP 15″ w/ a powered HUB to make that work?

Any thoughts suggestions would be welcome.

    Cheers,

I guess we have to wait until they arrive. 2-3 weeks if you order today.

You should be able to use both USB 3 ports on the new MBP. Definitely test it before you buy.

It looks like only the 2.6 GHz has the option to upgrade the flash memory from 512GB to 768GB (Jim asked me earlier today) and Processor from 2.6 to 2.7.

To benefit from the USB 3 on the new MPB, you may want to consider the pcd30.

Yes, PCD2 can be powered from a USB HUB or even an iPhone charger.

I have been told that the USB 3 bus you connect this to will revert that entire USB 3 bus to USB 2 speed, since the PCD2 is a USB 2 device. I don’t know if those two USB 3 connectors on your computer are on separate USB 3 busses or on the same USB bus.
