Because it doesn’t work that way. You need to use a multiclip sequence, and then the timecode from the 2 clips should be related. This is explained in the FCP manual. Look up multiclip sequences and read that section completely.

Sorry, not even close. Red uses a proprietary codec that was written just for Red. It has no relation to h.264. There’s more info at red.com and reduser.net.

Yup. I’d try that first. If you’re not happy with the results, try Shake, AE, Combustion, maybe Photoshop Extreme.

But what about that Mac 512 that I’ve jerry-rigged with the Radius card, duct tape, paper clips and speaker wire? Surely that should work?
And while we’re at it, how about the Hacintosh that I made with my old toaster oven and an Amiga?

This sounds like interlacing, which is perfectly normal.

You can export an XML of a sequence or of your whole project & import that into the other computer. File>Export>XML
your FCP manual can fill in the details.

I’m sure you had to wait for your .png files to finish rendering!
I haven’t the slightest idea why the .png files take longer to render. I wonder if there’s a way to run a batch action in Photoshop to add an alpha and convert to .tif?

It would be best for you to get involved with a lab or post house that has a good coloring suite. Be prepared to start off fairly low on the food chain.
