My dumb ass left the gain on low and I have some grainy noise going on otherwise everything would have been perfect.

It’s not much but it’s noticable. Guassian blur @ 2 clears it up but gets a bit fuzzy.

Any suggestions would help. The frame consists of a white wall in the BG and just a head shot of the actor.

    It’s nothing fancy.

Any advise from the color correcting guru’s would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hi Hoss,
Try that Gaussian Blur but only in the Blue or Green channel.

[Rafael Amador] “Try that Gaussian Blur but only in the Blue or Green channel.”

Not green! Blue or red. Blue will tend to be the noisiest, green the least.

    Hi Arnie,
You are absolutely right when talking about noise, but Hoss’s sound more like somebody have been shooting with the Gain On. On those cases blurring the Blue or Green works OK. Some times better on the Blue, some times on the Green.
BTW, had you tried the Innobits “Video Purifier”?
Is amazing. I’m using it in all my EX-1 footage before to bring it to Color as 10b Unc or Prorres.

Haven’t tried it, yet. I’ll download a demo the next time we get in a project that needs noise or grain reduction.

    Rafael you are a star!!
This Purifier software is amazing and I bought it straight away. Gives old BetaSP upscaled to HD a new live.
    Best tip in ages!!!

    Hi Carsten,
    Please don’t tell nobody:-)
I’ve been thinking to make a little review about Purifier for the COW, but this product really deserve a good article and I don’t think I’m able to write it.

    Arnie,
Don’t wait to have any noisy footage. Try it with any footage.

You’re absolutely right, this software deserves a review.
But I totally understand your hesitation to write something, I couldn’t either 🙂

Maybe some of the good writers out there hear the plea..

    Cheers
