You should set the brightness, then set the contrast, then set the color.

Try running a 50 footer from the cable modem to the router, then run another 50 footer from the router to the computer. Essentially, you’ll be using the router as a repeater. Might not work, but it would be interesting to see!

The answer is to get an external NTSC or PAL video monitor. You should always be viewing your work on a video monitor, not your computer monitor. Your FCP manual has a few pages of diagrams that show how to connect a video monitor to your FCP system using various hardware configurations.

In the browser window you can select all, right click and choose “Make Offline”, then chose “Delete from Disk” (not at a FCP workstation right now, the exact wording may vary), click “OK” at the frightening warning that tells you what you are about to do is ill advised.

A multilayer Photoshop file should be given to you with no alpha channel. Including an alpha will screw things up.
Each layer in a .psd can have transparency, so no alpha is needed.
There can be only one alpha channel for the entire .psd file, and there’s no way to separate each layer with it’s own alpha channel- other than making each one a separate file.
And this is why you need to buy Photoshop. So you can fix this kind of stuff.

First, let me state the obvious- you should buy Photoshop. That will let you work with the layers and remove the black. And add drop shadows. And create logos. And use photoshop’s painting and cloning features and filters on moving video. And much more!
Failing that, open up the media tab in Motion, select the the logo and check it’s alpha settings. If Motion is seeing it as straight, flip it to premultiplied. If premultiplied, change it to straight.

There’s a deflicker plugin in the Furnace set from the Foundry. I’ve never tried it myself, but I think there’s a demo.
