Technicolor probably has either a Teranex or an Alchemist. Ask them how much extra it would cost for them to do it. I suspect it would be less than you renting a Teranex. Plus, they already know how it works.

If you lie to conceal you’re bosses’ mistake, you’re participating in a cover-up. Look up “Watergate”.

Sure, why not? But that doesn’t change the fact that your bosses broke the law. A fact that would come out in any legal investigation into the making & funding of the video. Offering to pay you months after the fact to cover up the mistake is not the same as paying you for your efforts at the time. That’s merely a cover-up.

You need to speak to a value added reseller or a consultant who specializes in setting up online suites or FCP suites. There’s a good possibility that the shop that sold you your Avids may also sell FCP. Check with them first, then maybe find another shop or 2 to get bids from.

If you have access to his 50i project, then try to copy & paste all the clips from that into a 60i timeline. With luck, you’ll only need to adjust some in/out points. If the audio drifts, you may have to pull it down by 0.1%.

I think you need to reconform his entire film. Make sure that he’s paying by the hour. And get a good sized deposit, in case he decides to walk away before you’re done.

There’s no real advantage to upconverting your SD to HD. It will not have any more detail or any better contrast or color than the tape you upconvert from.
If you telecine from the original camera negative, you will be able to recover all of the original detail in that negative. Plus, it’s an opportunity for you to color correct the show in HD color space.
IOW, you have an opportunity to make it look much better than it looks now. Why not take it?

Change the Motion project size to 1280×720 and the pixel aspect ratio to square. That’s always helped me when I had to deal with this problem in DVCPro HD.

Check your playout settings. It sounds like they’re set wrong. They should match your timeline settings.

Ok, you really need to spend about 20 or 30 minutes reading your Photoshop manual. All of this is covered there, spread across several pages and pretty well organized. I know this because this is how I figured it out.

There are no pro LCD broadcast monitors for under $1k. You can find a good Plasma in that price range, or you can find a used CRT.
