I’ve had pretty good results from Compressor. Compressor has some decent frame blending algorithms since at least v3.0. You must use the “Frames” tab in Compressor and select the proper options. I will refer you to the PDF manual in Compressor’s Help menu for details.

Both Color and FCP are designed to be used with an external reference monitor. The internal computer displays are not accurate and simply should not be used to judge the contrast & color that you see.
Color & FCP are quite different internally, they do not display video the same way internally, and this is reflected in the difference on the internal computer display. IOW, you must use a calibrated broadcast monitor connected to a video capture card if you want to accurately see what you’re doing.

Was your film actually shot on some sort of 24P media (like film)? Or did you shoot 29.97? If you shot 29.97, keep it that way. You will gain nothing by going to 23.98. If you’re transferring it to film or to a DCP, then let the transfer house convert it.

If you shot on 24P and you really cut in a 29.97 timeline that you now need to convert back, then I would strongly recommend that you find an online editor to do this for you. Don’t waste time trying to figure this out, get someone who does this every day to do it, and find them now.

Labels. This question is frequently asked here, and the answer is to select all clips in a sequence and then choose a color coded label from the “Modify” menu. You can sort by these labels in the FCP browser.
I recently used this feature to swap out all of the SD footage in an DVCPro HD feature, for example.

Actually, you can use a batch list to easily list & print a single bin.
Look it up in your manual. The information is there, and it will do exactly what you want with very few steps.

Tapes are about $3.00 a pop. So, unless you’re using dozens of tapes, that’s not a big savings. And there’s a benefit to a tape, it’s a backup in case your drive crashes.

Look up “batch list” in your FCP manual. You can export a batch list & print that.
I know, you shouldn’t have to look anything up in the manual.

Do you mean to develop the negative, or do you mean to print the negative to a positive print? You cannot scan a negative that hasn’t been developed first. Printing is a separate process, usually done in the lab that develops the negative. Printing is no longer necessary for editing, and certainly not needed for scanning. It’s best to scan directly from the original camera negative.

What is your deliverable? Work backwards from that.
Also, you will generally have an easier time of it if you cut 1080 in a 1080 sequence. You can always copy & paste it into a 720 sequence when you lock picture.
