I once heard somewhere that when Jobs & Wozniack 1st went to Zerox PARC to see X Windows, it was demoed on a 3 button mouse. When they were doing their 1st experiments with the Lisa & Mac prototypes, though people were afraid to use the mouse because they didn’t want to click the wrong button. I suspect that they simply stuck with it because they never figured out till now how many people like me can’t live without the scroll wheel & extra button or 2.
And $49 ain’t bad, either!

Also, if the .psd originated on a Windows PC, you’ll have to open it in the Mac version of Photoshop & re-save them. Do “Save As”, & just overwrite the original file.

Well, there’s no virus protection on this Mac, & I don’t have anything from Norton installed. Any other ideas?

Is your friend working in a non drop frame timeline? Are you working in drop frame?
Another possibility is that his timeline actually is 2 seconds, 25 frames longer. Perhaps he has a piece of media hanging past the tail of the timeline that he didn’t notice? Or at the head? Does the media start at the very head of his timeline? Or perhaps 2 seconds, 25 frames later?
It’s hard to really tell without looking at his timeline.

Listen, I’m not trying to lecture you or scold you, but this is a simple workflow issue. If you had timed the deck rental properly, you wouldn’t have to waste time reconnecting the clips this way.
What’s your time worth? What’s the cost of the deck rental for another day?

The real shortcut is to place your clips in their proper bins as you log them. Control click (or right click, if you have a 3 button mouse) on the bin & choose “Set Logging Bin”.

Yes, there is. It’s called “Batch Capture”. The previous editor has basically done all of this work for you. All you need to do now is load the tapes & click OK. If you’re unfamiliar with how batch capture works, you can consult your manual.

I’m inclined to not use spotlight on my media drives. When I export clips to be used in Motion or AE, I often get a “file in use” error if I change my mind & try to over-wright the file a few minutes later. Bugs the hell out of me.
