  • Spotlight on Media Drives?

    Hi,

Anyone have Spotlight running on their Media drives?

If so do you leave it on during captures?

    Any problems (capture or otherwise)?

I have not felt the need to use Spotlight on Media drives but I might be missing something. Do you find it useful?

    Thanks!

    Mitch

I’ve been running Spotlight on my media drives for months.. no problems don’t think… it’s useful to find those stills stored there or other media files you know are there, but can remember where they are I suppose, but it won’t hurt anything to use it on them.

I’m inclined to not use spotlight on my media drives. When I export clips to be used in Motion or AE, I often get a “file in use” error if I change my mind & try to over-wright the file a few minutes later. Bugs the hell out of me.

I don’t think Spotlight has anything to do with your file in use error.

Well, there’s no virus protection on this Mac, & I don’t have anything from Norton installed. Any other ideas?
