Do a search back 12 or 18 months on this forum. I seem to remember some postings about the both Tascam 1082 and 1884 some time after support was added for control surfaces.

A few months back, Bob Zelin wrote an article or posted in one of the forums about patch panels. Search under the articles or in the Kona forum. It covered both using an ethernet patch panel for RS-422, and audio & video patch panels.

That’s an excellent point. But if they’re not busy playing my DV clip, maybe some of them can do something useful for me? Like answering my email? Doing my laundry? Fetching my coffee? I mean, they shouldn’t just hang around while that one core’s doing all the work!

With FCP, some settings like keyboard layouts or screen arrangements can be saved. Each user can save their favorites screen, keyboard, button, etc, layouts, & load them as needed.
Or, each editor can have a separate logon to the Mac, & have their own complete set of preferences for not just FCP, but every program on that Mac.

The $200 PC at Best Buy may not be ‘state of the art’, but Dell, HP, Gateway, Boxx and other’s I can’t name off the top of my head all sell ‘state of the art’ workstations. Oddly enough, they cost about the same as a similar Mac Pro. You can also make your own ‘state of the art’ computer. Oddly enough, it would cost about the same as a similar Mac Pro.
