Four editors on one machine. How to change settings?
Posted by Sven Giebel on November 13, 2007 at 10:23 pmWe installed a FCP 6 system these days. As we are familiar with the avid workflow, which gives every user his own “user settings” we asked ourselves wether this might be possible with FCP. Well, now I am asking you because even after heavy googling I only find third party applications mentioned (fcprescue or fcp-attic) which enable me to trash or backup the whole set of FCP settings.
How can four editors work on one system with four different settings?
Thanks for your input!

November 13, 2007 at 11:18 pmWith FCP, some settings like keyboard layouts or screen arrangements can be saved. Each user can save their favorites screen, keyboard, button, etc, layouts, & load them as needed.
Or, each editor can have a separate logon to the Mac, & have their own complete set of preferences for not just FCP, but every program on that Mac.

Multiuser Pro
https://www.chesa.com/store/Multiuser Pro brings an Avid-like project window to Final Cut Pro. Create multiple Final Cut Pro users within a single Mac OS X user login. Migrate your preferences easily from machine-to-machine in a SAN environment. Create preferences based on a user or project name… do what they said couldn’t be done!

November 27, 2007 at 5:21 pmMultiuser Pro – how much do you think it’s worth?
I know how much I want to sell it for and I know how much my company wants to sell it for (based on their investment). I would be curious to know what possible users think would be a fair price.

p.s. I can say it will definitely retail for more than FCP Attic 😉

November 27, 2007 at 11:55 pmi think it’s a really interesting app, and i cant wait for it to be available, although i don’t personally need it.
do you sell many copies of FCP Attic given that you can get FCP Rescue for free? (i know Attic has a bit more functionality)
personally, $10 would be a sweeter price point for Attic.i would have said $20 for MUP, but again, as a single user, i don’t have a huge need for it.
it could be that your biggest market is going to be houses switching from Avid to FCP.
Digital Heaven’s “Big Time” is probably also favoured by them, and seems to sell at $50,
so i’d say $50 would be your upper limit.
with a group license discount on top of thata 30 day free trial would be a good way to get people hooked on using it.
is Mark Raudonis on this thread?
no…
that’s a pity. he’d have a great perspective on it.good luck with it, Brain,

November 28, 2007 at 1:35 am$49.95 single seat license
$129.95 5 seat license
$199.95 10 seat license… that $1,000,000.00 price tag is very scary 🙂

November 28, 2007 at 3:55 amIt sounds like the pricing I have in my head and you guys have suggested aren’t off by too much. I appreciate the input. It will be nice to provide your guy’s feedback to my boss.
Now if I only I can get someone to write up the manual for me …
-Brian
p.s. And yes, the $1,000,000.00 price tag is supposed to be scary 😉

December 21, 2007 at 6:11 pmI’m a little confused. Can’t you just switch keyboard layouts with FCP?
