February 11, 2011 at 6:59 am in reply to: Project Due:Importing JPEG and Creating Frame with Multiples of SameSounds simple…..but
Did you size your images before, importing?
What size video are you creating?
Are you making an image sequence animation?
or just adding a few stills into a video?*Production*Post-Production*

Sounds Silly, but did you try and show all window command? Usually the set to one of your F keys.
If you don’t use the F keys for FCP. Otherwise, just use the touchpad>4 fingers swipedownIt can hidden behind the Viewer or Canvas windows. If none of that reveals, the mighty motion tab, then close the viewer window, and hit Control+U (standard layout)
You can always go under the window menu, or CMD+1 to bring up the viewer.
Hope that helps.

The Canon Plugin works for both FCP 6 and 7, you just wont have all the ProRes options in FCP6 (only 422 and 422HQ)

Wide Angles can help with the shakey cam, but still you want to get even a affordable stabilizer.
RedRock Micro has some cheaper rigs for handheld shooting, and you can build them up.DSLR camera are small and with the larger image sensors you can knock things in and out of focus.
A steady hand on a video camera is not the same as a DSLR.Take a look some start at $400, worth it for not as much camera shake.

Option+left or right arrow to nudge (frame by frame) hold shift at the same time and you will nudge by multiple frames.
Also, if you are syncing add a marker to the audio or video or both in the timeline and use that as a visual.
Then you can select the slip tool and use the bracket to slip frame by frame or add shift+brackets to do a multi frame slip.
PS: The are a few plugins that will do most of the work for you. If you are doing alot of this then maybe worth the investment.

HV20=tape based MiniDV right?
Did you delete the media but still have the original tapes?
If so, are the clips in your project as offline media with red slashes?
Another question, did you Batch Capture these clips off the tape? Good timecode on your tape. I hope.
If so, insert the original tape, you can highlight all the offline media>right click Batch Capture.
This will work seamless if you Logged your footage correctly.

January 19, 2011 at 3:01 pm in reply to: EDITING 24P CANON 5D FOOTAGE WITH 50i JVC HM 100 FOOTAGEYou can use both frame rates in the same timeline, FCP has an open Format Timeline for the last few versions.
You will notice the difference between cameras, but you can use some of the 50i footage to conform to
slowmotion when needed. 25/24p is going to look alot smoother in realtime, VS the video look of the 50iIf you dont already have the Canon E-1 Plugin makes sure to download it.
https://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAct&articleID=3249Then you can transcode it in FCP via Log and Transfer window, I know the HM100U is the easiest to work with. Right off the card, with the Canon DSLR’s you will need to change these files from H.264 to Apple ProRes. Apple ProRes LT seems to be the favorite for the data rate and file size. Still looks pretty crisp, but you will be blowing up your files by 50%.
In short, you can work with both the 50i and 24p footage in the same native if you have at least FCP6
