Hi Linda,
The filter turnbulent noise in Georges tut is now included in the AE pro filters set, the name has been changed to Fractal Noise, go
EFFECTS>>NOISE>>FRACTALNOISE and your away.
A word of warning though, Georges Tut is pretty deep and not really one for beginners. I’d leave it for a bit and come back to it once you have a bit more knowledge of the app’, otherwise you might not have much hair left by this time next week 🙂

April 7, 2005 at 9:06 am in reply to: Newbie needs advise on Avid Xpress Pro & Affect EffectsHi Des,
you can’t re-import an AE timeline back into Avid. What you need to do is render a movie out of AE (with the correct codec for your project) and then import that movie into Avid.
If your going to be doing much work between Avid and AE Automatic Duck is essential, it absolutely transforms the workflow, we have tackled jobs since buying it that we wouldn’t have considered before. Wes Plate (the AD guy) is also very helpfull and the support generally is very good

Hi bubs,
Artbeats abstract backgrounds are created with various 3D applications and compositors. If you want to try and create somthing similar, quickly, yourself you might want to check out Digital Anarchys Chaos Stock product

Hi Bobby,
use FN on a couple of different layers (3-4 maybe) use soft masks to reveal the portions of the layers that you want to be visable and then give each layer slightly different evolution speeds and random seed values.
finaly adjust the opacity of each layer and try out different transfer modes untill you get the look you want,

Hi Jason,
There may be a quicker way of doing it but, you can import your original project into your new one (it’ll appear as a folder) duplicate the comp that you need and drag it to where you want it to be in your new project. If you dont need anything else for the original project you can just delete it’s folder in your new project to keep things tidy.

April 1, 2005 at 2:54 pm in reply to: How can you create a mask that affects other layers in the composition?Hi Dan,
1.why don’t you pre-comp the layers you want to mask?. If you pre-comp (moving attributes to a new comp) you can then happily mask all the layers that you want to as one. If you need to modify the layers within your mask at a later stage just open up the pre comp and tweek them there.
2.Or you can nest your present comp inside another comp’ and then apply the mask to them there, working this way still gives you your original comp to tweek if reqired.
The second technique will preserve any tranfer modes you may be using so if thats relevant then go for number two.
