Oh, and, in case you didn’t know, to pre-comp sleect the relevant layer and CTRL/CMD>>SHIFT>>C will bring up your pre-comp dialogue

I think you might need to pre-comp the layer first (moving all atributes to new comp). I’ve got an old project open here and that seems to be what I did to get it to work

Hi Chris,
You could split the layer at the point you want the shatter to happen (CTRL/CMND>>SHIFT>>D) and then apply shatter to the second part of the layer.

to make that effect will will need two plug-ins by Trapcode. The plug-ins you need are called Shine and 3D Stroke

you could create a layer similar to your logo, but solid white. The apply a gradient wipe (useing the original layer as the reference) to reveal it. you could the mess about with tranfer modes and flares and glows untill you get the desired effect

you need to use AIF audio in after effects. Also if you want to have audio in your output file then you need to enable the Audio in your output module before rendering

you could make your own in AE using a few layers of FN with soft masks and various transfer modes
or
check out digital anarchys Aurora Sky plug-in (looks great but the renders can be long)
this has been discussed on here lots of times, do a search of the archives to see in detail what the Guru’s have recomended
