I understand that there is a software called Auto Duck to export Avid’s timeline into After Effects. But what about Avid Xpress Pro itself? Does it require external software for importing and exporting timeline to and from Affect Effects?

    Thanks,

    Hi Des,

you can’t re-import an AE timeline back into Avid. What you need to do is render a movie out of AE (with the correct codec for your project) and then import that movie into Avid.

If your going to be doing much work between Avid and AE Automatic Duck is essential, it absolutely transforms the workflow, we have tackled jobs since buying it that we wouldn’t have considered before. Wes Plate (the AD guy) is also very helpfull and the support generally is very good
