go to the after effect tutorial page there is a video on this topic.
of course it is meant for AE but will give you an idea of what is involved in producing the look within FCP.digital heaven also have a plugin you could check out.

Yeah I don’t think cinema tools will be much help to you. However you may want to check out this article on how to set up compressor for standards conversions.
https://www.macworld.com/2006/02/secrets/marchcreate/index.phpI have personally used this method and while being very time consuming it does give you excellent results. I think it is better then nattress in image quality but not in terms of time.
Also you may be able to convert from dv ntsc directly to PAL HD in which case you definitely don’t need a nattress filter.

Just wanted throw in my two cents… I was unaware that journaling
was not recommended for media drives. Hence, I have done a lot of
editing on scratch drives with journaling enabled and I have never
had an major issues.-AnDy

Do answer your first question yes there is another way of changing the speed of a clip without right/control clicking it. One is Modify>Speed. the other faster way is cmd-j.
To smooth out the motion try toggling the blend frames option. Also you might want to check out Graeme Nattress’s G Map Frames filter https://www.nattress.com/Products/standardsconversion/GMapFrames.htm
Keep in mind you’ll never get a true slowmotion effect without shooting at a higher speed(>30/24). As for speeding stuff up you can get away with a lot more. If you have it, you may want to experiment with Apple’s stock stop motion filter.
hope that helps

December 10, 2006 at 4:41 am in reply to: Recaptuting 2 audio tracks after only1 has been capturedWhat I did when I was in the same situation was rightclick/control click the clip and then offline it (delete the media from the drive)
then I went to file create new offline clip and manually set the in and out points to match the old clip… the last step is to recapture the
newly created offline clip (after having corrected the capture settings)and then finally delete the original clip.I believe the reason I took this approach was because Final Cut just
wanted to recapture what had been offlined (one video and one audio track)Hence, I just created a brand new offline clip.I’m sure that there is more then one solution to this problem but this is the only one that I remember using.
Good luck,

Yes you can capture directly to a drive… In fact I’m
not sure that I know of any other way of capturing footage
but to a hard drive. = )
If you meant an external drive… then the answer is still yes.
Hope this helps,

Okay… “good instructor” is somewhat vague…
can you recommend anyone? Thanks, but I believe that I already read the post you were referring to…
https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_read_post.cgi?univpostid=855159&forumid=54&postid=855165&pview=t
but i didn’t find it that helpful… no offense… but i wasn’t asking whether I should go to film school or work as a slave for an established filmmaker (i’m referring to the other post)unfortunately I don’t know cinematographers that are in the market for coffee fetcher… However if you happen to know of anyone that is please let me know asap… I don’t even need to be fed because I am looking to lose all the weight I gained from editing a promotional video over the summmer…
Maybe if titled my post buy “one get one free on Red Cameras” I would have gotten more responses-AnDy (FCP 5 n00b)

Thanks… but it didn’t work… the disk utility says that the system
drive has some errors on it so I will try fixing that… the reason I checked
the system drive was because you’re program said the FCP system settings were corrupt… -
rcrete,
You do not want to rip VHS to DVD for input to vegas or any NLE…
if you don’t have anyway to dub analog to digital tape… buy a analog capture card or break out box…DVD mpeg2 footage is far less then ideal for editing…
