Sorry but I couldn’t find this during a search.

I have a client who has requested I outfit a studio for them with Mac gear.

No problem but I am unsure as to whether I can do direct captures (from camera to hard drive) with Final Cut Pro as I can with my PC software.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Yes you can capture directly to a drive… In fact I’m
not sure that I know of any other way of capturing footage
    but to a hard drive. = )
If you meant an external drive… then the answer is still yes.
    Hope this helps,

Yes, you can do this, but you will not get any timecode from the camera. This may not be an issue for you, but every clip is going to start at zero. There are system that will allow direct capture to a camera mounted drive that can then be plugged into FCP.

    All the best,

    Tom

I guess I should have been more clear in my question. Sorry. i was talking about direct from camera to hard drive. I was pleased to discover that the answer was yes.

    Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your time and information. The timecode issue is not a problem for me so I guess I’m off and capturing.
