    Hi all,

I have a few NTSC 29.97fps DV shots that I need to convert to PAL 1080i50HDV. I’ve searched the forums for info, and have gleaned that Cinema Tools is the way to convert NTSC to PAL (I think – you may know better) and then I’m happy to use compressor to up-res to HDV. Trouble is, I can find no instructions on the first step anywhere! Can anyone point me in the right direction, of using Cinema Tools to convert? Failing that, a better way? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

    Cheers,

    Jason

Ahhh, OK, seems like I have been barking up the wrong tree… I think Cinema Tools is for 24p to PAL rather than 29.97… correct? It seems like Nattress is the way to go….

Yeah I don’t think cinema tools will be much help to you. However you may want to check out this article on how to set up compressor for standards conversions.

I have personally used this method and while being very time consuming it does give you excellent results. I think it is better then nattress in image quality but not in terms of time.

Also you may be able to convert from dv ntsc directly to PAL HD in which case you definitely don’t need a nattress filter.
