Thanks. I will try that. It’s hard to describe. Normally when I pick up a clip and move it in the timeline I can see a shadow of the clip moving witht the arrow, but on some clips there is no “shadow” so I end up just guessing where I am moving it.

Does there have to be a mark for the in and the out? Usually my producer sends me a clip with markers just when the shot they want starts.

Thanks. After I posted this, I found where the manual explains it.

As for video…. If I am editing DVCPRO HD, should I be rendering video in 32bit?

Right I meant that there isnt a sony xdcam ex setting for export. If you want you can also export your audio separately if you don’t like the sounds of mono. The green line is probably because your sequence setting is different from the clip setting?

I’ve never found a setting for xdcam ex only xdcam hd. I just choose the hd setting that matches the setting of my ex sequence. Sequence is xdcam ex 1080p 24 VBR then I set export to xdcam hd 1080p 24 VBR. I can’t see a difference.

It’s not illegal to edit with music if it is for personal use and not for broadcast or to make a profit from the music.

You have to export using SONY XDCAM plugin. This will make an MXF that PC can use. I do it all the time going back and forth between FCP and Avid. Sony XDCAM should be one of your export options if you have installed the plugin (it’s available on Sony’s xdcam website)

Thanks. The audio engineer suggested the timecode window. Is that created just using a filter in FCP or is there a way to do it with out rendering? Also, my sequence is 59.94, but the audio engineers say that pro tools is working in 29.97 (and there is no way to make it 59.94) Would that be an issure with audio?
