I’ve noticed that if I put markers on a clip I have opened from a bin and then later on change the speed of that clip, the markers don’t stay on the frame they marked before. Is there a way to work around this?

You have to move them manually. Hopefully in a future version of FCP it will be available.

Then what’s the point of marking anything? Seems like it should be an easy fix.

You can reposition markers forward and extend markers.

How does that work? I have a clip that is 1 hour long. I open it in the views and put markers on the good takes or shots. Then if I change the speed, the markers get messed up. How does repositioning them or extending them work in that situation?

Your biggest problem is the 1 hr clip. You really need to log and capture each individual clip. I know it’s tedious, but it will save you time in the end.

I wish I had shorter clips, but it is out of my control.

Take control. Set in and out points on your timeline and export the clips needed.

could do that but would prevent future recapture and reconnection of projects.

If you twirl the triangle next to that master clip with the markers, you can select all the markers and option drag them to a new bin. That will give you subclips for each one. Then if you need them all to have a speed change, you can paste attribute for the change onto all of the subclips.

Does there have to be a mark for the in and the out? Usually my producer sends me a clip with markers just when the shot they want starts.
