Rich, thanks for chiming in. Well I think we are SOL. I went back to the original footage from the first online session and the black lines are in the footage, but not as pronounced as it comes out after the compression.

As this has been a long term project….editing off and on for over 5 years and the original Betacam shoot was in the mid 80’s….. it is a shame to have this crop up in the final stages. There is no more budget to to re-online/cut mattes/color correction for the DVD. The sad part is the online was all tweaked to be within broadcast spec with waveforms etc. It is only with the MPEG-2 compression that the black lines raises its ugly head.

Oh well, couple more things to try and then see what the client wants to do.

    Thanks

[walter biscardi] “‘m extremely disappointed that I spent $5k last year on a tool that’s now free.”

But don’t you get the FCP Stduio 2 upgrade for free now? Or is that only the people that bought the 2K version? I know it does not soften the cost hit, but at least it is something…..

[CharlieX] “I really think they could integrate all these technologies”

It is coming in FCP Studio 4 on a teraflop USB drive…just kidding charlie 🙂 I hear what you say and agree with you. It sure would be great if we had it all under one app, but for now, it is not an option. I complained about Sound Track Pro when it first came out and how the “round tripping” just did not work correctly. Hopefully this new version fixes the headaches and I can actually use part of the FCP Studio I paid for 2 years ago.

Send apple your feedback as they spoke about it during the event today. The presenter kept on stating, “we heard you….” So maybe your requests to Apple will be heard and it will get bundled into the next generation of FCP.

Maybe that is why it has FW800 vs. FW400. HDMI on the box could be the new input output as well.

Think it will replace CF pretty well. I went to the Apple event today and the COLOR demo was pretty amazing. Send your sequence right out of FCP. Shots all show up in the new COLOR timeline. Has Curves alla Avid. Includes special looks that can be applied like Natress Plugs-ins, when your in a rush to CC.

  • You would probably be better served posting your problem on the Apple FCP Forum. Or submit feedback direct to apple about your problem:

    [StuS57] “4.5 MB RAM”

But Stu, what good is it going to do you with only 4.5 MB of Ram :-)Your Quad Core must be working over time to keep up with the lack of ram …..just kidding.

50 days till we see FCP 6 in all it’s glory and the new Kona Extreme card…oops.

Thanks for chiming in Tim. After posting my question I spent a day off and on using the new default view. I’ll just have to give it a shot and see if it grows on me. I guess after all these years of browsing the Cow, I got used to a certain view. But as they say, change can be good 🙂

[Kathlyn Lindeboom] “But as I said, you should be able to set your cookies to remember that you want the thread view.”

Do you have any pointers on how to do this for IE, Firefox or Safari? I am using my laptop with Safari this week and noticed the default change as well. It sure ads some extra clciks when your power browsing 30 – 40 forums and have to reset each forum you click on. Appreciate any tips you can provide on reseting the cookie as I can’t find it in the Safari preferences.

    Thanks,
    Andy
