Your router should be plug and play, even if you do not have the cd. But you mention you are running the Linksys through another router as well. Problem there is, both routers are fighting to distribute the IP address’s to your network and confusing things. You need to log into your linksys and change it from a gateway to a router, so it gets its IP address from the first router. Can you just swap out your old router for the new linksys? Or do you have a bunch of computers already wired on the old router? Depending on your ISP, you will need to power down your cable modem or DSL box before you plug in the Linksys. You might have to also call your ISP to tell them about the change if you have a static IP.
To get to the administration page on your linksys, go to your browser and type 192.168.1.1 do not put anything in the name field and just type admin in the password field. This should get you in to make changes without the CD.

So did you buy the upgrade? Have they improved the 2-pass VBR and removed the green issue?

Just re-loaded my system with the universal upgrade. As this was a clean install on a new drive, I would like to re-load my old favorites on the new system I have the old system drive still intact on a external USB/FW case. Would loading a project from the old drive have the favorites intact? Or do I have to boot from the old drive and save a project to a jump drive or external drive for the favorites to transfer.
Is there actually a file of favorites or is it only tied to a project file?
Appreciate any additional info as my favorites had a ton of prebuilt motion filters for moving photographs and I’d hate to spend a few hours rebuilding them.

Are you running it into the FW800 port on the front? Back? Or a Card?
Not really up to speed on the new MacPro’s as I am waiting for the 8 Cores :-). Anyway, if you are running it through a FW card, could it be a similiar problem to setting up the proper “lane speeds”? Just throwing something else out there as I could be totally off track as that only affects your PCI-E Kona or Fiber cards.

However, the G-RAID Pro will operate normally on these systems.” Hmmm….that made me wonder if there are other issues with MacIntel systems that they have not flushed out with their drivers……but wait, FW does not need drivers.Oh well Walter, hope you find a solution. I’m going back to edit on my Dual 2 PPC version…

They are the new cards that will work with your new laptop to allow you to have external hard drives for your video media. Here are some examples:

Yes it is called an 8 core laptop and will run Final Cut Extreme and flip HD images like butter 🙂
Seriously though, go ahead and get one of the new Core 2 Duo machines. Make money with it while you can. Apple is in a transition year with the intel make over. Things will be changing all around.
I just wrote a long reply with lots of details and accidentally hit my back space key….erased everything….shoot.
Anyway, I’ve owned a 15″ model for a couple months and there have been some painful days. Make sure you buy the Apple care!! Apple has fixed most of the things wrong with it, but there are still heat issues….these new chips run very hot.
other things to consider:
SATA express card adapters….drivers are still being updated.
External storage options. FW800 on MBP vs. MacBook.
graphic card needs for motion (MBP has a better card vs. plain Macbook)So get on the revision “A” train and accept a little beta tester pain or wait out in the cargo hold with the rest of the herd till revision “B.”

You might want to ask your question in the Final Cut Basic Forum as it is a forum for new users of FCP. This forum is for more advanced users.
Just to get you started since you don’t have a manual:
Open live type, go to File, then open template. Choose Lower Third, then choose the lower third you want and click ok. Type in the text you want and save it. Import your LiveType file into Final Cut or render out a Quicktime file.Hope this gets you started…….

Since your in the Las Vegas market, what facility do you work at? There are a ton of FCP suites in town, including mine that put out top quality work. From Broadcast shows on Fox, commericals you see on all the local stations, to Documentaries that air across the country….. FCP can get the job done. Just tell your boss that the AJA XENA cards are being ported into Avids as a OEM option. So if it is good enough for Avid to move into, FCP and AJA could save you some serious money in post.

Thanks for the reply. Did you use the software update vs. downloading the updates from the apple/download page? I have read certain updates through software update seem to be corrupt and give installers headaches. Since you recently did a complete ground up re-install, I was just wondering which way you did it.
