What is the video codec you are trying to output? DVCPROHD by chance? I see that with the DeckLink Studio card we have in one of the machines. If the footage is DVCPROHD in a 1920X1080 sequence, it plays back fine. But create a DVCPROHD based seq. it won’t play out to the monitor.

DVCPRO HD file is 1280×1080. Yes, you can load it into a timeline and it does not playback when mixed with other ProRes media.

“Better interaction with our big iron SAN. Adobe changed the way file permissions are treated under the hood of the last 2 OS upgrades. So hopefully it would solve some of the issues editors in the building are seeing with file permissions and how Premiere interacts with the OS. Do the Aps currently work, yes with some daily headaches that need work arounds. There are some inconsistent issues when exporting to the SAN from AFX or PPro, so an upgrade might be worth the change if it solves the permissions issues. Of course I’ll need a week or two of testing various department work flows to see if anything else crops up with the upgrades OS. This is why I’m asking to see what other editors are seeing with making the move to Mavericks, so I’ll be able to check on those issues. I’m not making this jump to keep up with the Jones’s…. some of our bays are still running FCP 6.06 because it just works for that departments workflow. So I definitely get the mantra if it works why change.
With the latest OS being out for four months, I figure we would be hearing a giant stay away till it’s fixed or tons of feed back that it works great. I’m not seeing or hearing either and just wanted to toss this out to get a better feel of what is or isn’t working.
Are you running Adobe CC on your Mountain Lion install? Or still running CS6? Are you using AJA hardware on your Mountain Lion install?

Had one of our producers use it 2 weeks ago. He got part of the work flow down from some tutorials, but in the end dropped it. All the transcoding that was going on with his base MBP laptop was taking so long before he could get anything done. He figured he could copy his full res clips to an external drive, load up premiere, cut his selects, send the sequence to the in house editor that had the same clips on a SAN and move on.
Since I’m not really up to speed on Prelude I figured he was not using it right or there were some wrong preferences set up to eat up his time transcoding. I guess I need to watch some tutorials on it and see if I can help him out with a better work flow. For now he has moved on and won’t use Prelude any more.

Yes, I’d say it’s the base server + large enough storage for all sizes of media and proxy generation space + fast enough bandwidth costs to make it operational. It was only running on a mac mini talking back to adobe servers, which served out the proxy files for the demo. We have a very fast connection, so not something an editor would see connected to hotel clamped wifi or ethernet connection. No 4K, just standard HD proxies in a timeline so you can chop your edit together. This NAB we should see a new version coming after a year of testing. CNN was one of the largest beta-testers, so we will most likely see a presentation from them again at the booth like last year…(pure speculation on my part)

Saw a demo of it last year. It’s a hefty priced server backend and storage you’ll need to get it to work. Lots of hurdles to overcome, but they are exploring new workflows and I give them kudos for trying.
Look what broadcasters are thinking of doing with production workflows and the cloud hub going forward.

Cloud hub…that will be a marketing term we are sure to see more at NAB 2014.What happens when all your media is tied up in the cloud and you can’t get to it through a bad connection. Oh so many “what if scenarios” to over come to make this a reality. I wish them luck and I hope to see it in my lifetime.

Not sure what it could be with your system. Do you have Audition? You can send the seq. to Audition and see all your tracks separately. Drop in whatever Audio filters you need on the clips and then send the seq back to premiere as stems so you can tweak edit without losing your effects.
Couple maintenance things you can do:
Clean / Delete you cache files
Repair permissions on your drive
Reboot and start new project / use media browser to import your old seq. drop on audio effects to test if they play properly.Andy Edwards

Try the selecting Hi Pass & Reverb in the Audio Track Mixer vs. dropping the filter on the seq. audio. See if that plays the effects back properly. You can edit the filters by double clicking on them in the audio track mixer to open up their individual properties.

Yes, my screen shot was the CC version. So you won’t see those extra preferences in CS6.
