You need faster drives. A single drive is ok for Red proxies, but not for full res files. I’ve got a 4k project with Red and F55 4K footage and it’s hooked up to 12TB thunderbolt 2 drive. It will do 4K multi cam just fine.

Sorry to hear it’s still a problem under 10.9.4 for you. I feel your pain after spending all that money on a beefy new mac pro and to have it not work right out of the box. Living on the edge can come with some painful growing pains and you just want it to do what was advertised.
Looking back at some of the posts, I see you are running a D700 based machine. Are you seeing these issues on CC or CC2014 or both. Is your main problem playback or rendering out final flattened files? We had one of our new mac pros completely melt down when editing a 4K show. Took it into the Apple store and got the logic board replaced for free. The machine was throwing errors they had not seen before. Is you machine over heating… Not just fans blowing hard, but the tube itself feels really hot? If so, I would suggest you take it into Apple for repairs.
Now onto some options:
Have you done a complete new install of 10.9.4 from scratch? Not just an internet restore or time machine restore. I’m talking boot up and wipe the SSD, do a clean restore from internet.Have you uninstalled all your Adobe Aps and done a clean install of just CC2014?
I see you are running Resolve. Are your NVidia drivers that get installed with Resolve conflicting with your AMD drivers? Have you tried restoring older or newer drivers and testing?
Have you posted over in the Adobe forum and or actually gotten on the phone with Adobe Tech Support?

If it’s the exact same clip and only the effect on one, then use the crop tool and crop half the screen to right or left side. You should then only see half your screen with the effect.

You should upgrade to 10.9.4. It cured a lot of the headaches we were having with 10.9.3.

Are you running 10.9.4 or 10.9.2 which most of the new Mac Pros shipped with. If running older, try updating the OS as it has helped with known issues in Premiere.

Had similar issues with one of our new Mac Pro’s. How is the heat of the tube? Does it heat up pretty hot and can you actually hear the fans blowing hot air out of the top? Our would crash with multi cam ProRes projects, and 4K projects. The tube got so hot it was like the fans were not even working correctly. Ended up taking back to Apple store and they are in the process of replacing logic board and some other internals. Even though the diagnostic software showed nothing wrong when they ran it. It was not CC2014, it was a bad hardware issue. Maybe make a genius appointment and have it tested.

Not sure about the AVID compatibility with the NVIDIA cards, but I have upgraded a bunch of our suites with older Mac Pros with this combo: SSD’s for OS Mavericks and Media Cache, 2 raided 7200 internal spinning drives, and Nvidia K4000 cards to take advantage of CUDA in Adobe Products and minimum 32GB of ram. Most of the bays are hooked up to a SAN, so internal space is just for additional back up vs getting SSD’s for all drive slots. Currently most of the systems hum along fine and have seen faster export times with these smaller upgrade costs. There was a shortage of 680’s at the time I wanted to do the upgrades to multiple bays, so I went with the K4000. I did not test a K500, but it would most likely be faster, but the cost was an issue for all the bays that would need them. I found the K4000’s price range from $680 – $795. Your older mac pro will run hotter with a K4000 so make sure to ad fan control software to boost the fans when running long renders or exports. When the editors don’t boost it, I have seen crashing. Just a personal preference so test to see how your machine handles the heat if you get the K4000.

I know its not the source window, but could you use “Q” & “W” keys to trim to your new in/out in the PGM Seq? If your keyboard shortcuts are PPro defaults, the Q will ripple trim previous edit to playhead for a new in point and W will ripple trim next edit to playhead for the new out point. Check your keyboard shortcuts to see if the tilda key has actually been assigned to maximize active frame to full screen.
