When I first saw it being used on the “24” series it provided a cubist feel (same action from different perspectives) and I was intrigued. This lasted only for few episodes and then developed into a “trick” without the same motivation. But I did like the original concept.

Select your audio tracks, hit option-L to remove stereo pair setting, right click on audio tracks and go to remove attributes, here you can remove the L-R panning by checking the pan attribute, -be careful- and make sure you only check what you want to remove.

First- fix your permissions (Drive Utility). I may have missed it in earlier post but I did not see an answer to the question about trashing FCP preferences. If you have not done so Trash them now.
If you have then save your project using “Save as” and change the name, this will reassign render folders and you can start clean. If this doesn’t work do a “safe” boot. Reboot the system holding down the shift key, after it ask for a password, enter it, let it start up fully and then ReStart again. If these options do not work download the latest version of the 10.5 combo update (make sure it is the combo update) and install it.
Hopefully one of these steps will solve the problem.

  • This is a long shot, Is your audio 16 or 24 bit. Digibeta cannot receive 16 bit over SDI and it may be a similar problem on the Panasonic deck.

  • If you are working in FCPro 6.03(4) Continue working in hdv for 2 reasons 1) The drives you are working with may have trouble dealing with 422 Pro Rez and 2) At this stage you can save capture time. (10 hrs already captured) The advantages of ProRez show up in effects, Time remapping, Color correction, GFX, etc. as long as most of the stuff is mostly cuts it takes less hard drive power to stay in hdv. When final funding is arranged then you can move it all to Pro Rez.
While in hdv go to the User preferences – Render Control Tab – set Codec to Pro Rez, this will speed up renders and improve quality.
    I hope this helps.

they should match up. it depends on how the still is interpreted, in earlier times I had to make a still movie so they would match up. But I think software is better these days.
Something to play with – force an I-Frame on the last frame of the movement, it might make the transition smoother.

OK fix your permissions, go to the apple website and download the updates to at least 6.02. there are some quicktime updates as well. You can Update using software update but make sure your project is backed up. I found 6.0 very buggy and the 6.01 update fixed alot of the problems. We are now at 6.03 and pretty happy. I wish I new the fix for the tape out on 6.0 but I don’t. There also could be issues with the Digibeta Deck Settings. Had you worked this set-up with an earlier version or os this a first time with FCP and Digibeta etc.

Did the Z1U have the automatic gain control on. this would keep the levels from peaking while the signal was greatly over-modulated from the level mismatch. Mic level is around -40 if the receiver was at -20 it was still mismatched enough to clip the signal but not enough to be extremely obvious in the field without an audio tech.

  • You can make all your changes and then select all the clips and change them in one shot.
