    HELP HELP

    FCP 6 G5 10.5.2 Dual 2Gh 3GB Ram

I was using a SOny Z1u with an wireless mic. Input Level on the Camera Menu is set to MIC not LINE and the INPUT Trim is set to 0db

I never during the interview had levels peaking. Brought into final cut via mini DV adapter to my DVC PRO DECK. No audio peaking there either, but the audio sounds over modulated.???

HOW CAN I STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. Someone said it could be an impediance problem??

Any help would be great, forum help, email me jk**********@*****ye.com or call 800-782-1700 xt 1389 as for Jared.

    Thanks
    Jared

What did it sound like with headphones on during the shoot?

Not monitoring with headphones is very dangerous.

    Sounded fine through the headphones…

I just noticed that the wireless mic was set to -20db and the camera was set to 0db….Could this be the impediance probleM??

    Thanks

You were probably clipping the circuits in the radio receiver. When you are using a radio mic you need to check levels at the transmitter, the receiver, and the camera. All three have to be correct. You still should have heard the problem in the headphones though.

Question, when you play back one the tape in the camera, does it still sound fine with your headsets? If so, then the tape is OK, but you have some other issue in the digitizing process.

Did the Z1U have the automatic gain control on. this would keep the levels from peaking while the signal was greatly over-modulated from the level mismatch. Mic level is around -40 if the receiver was at -20 it was still mismatched enough to clip the signal but not enough to be extremely obvious in the field without an audio tech.
