Select the clip and control click-Item Properties and see if the audio rate is 48K or 47.5xxxx.
if it says 32K then the tape was recorded at 32K.

For the future—you can drag the favorites folder into the project with your clips and bins, if you do this as part of project back-up then the favorites used in the project are always available and you have a over-all back-up, just in case.

I am not sure what recorder is being used but if is capable of recording at 48.048K this would be optimal (this is the recording clock rate – the playback is tagged 48K giving it a 1% drop) Sound Devices recorders can do this. Personally I would also record to he camera for a guide track. It makes it easier to slip the sound if you loose sync. There are a lot of variables and if you cannot jam sync timecode even the 48.048 can have drift.
    All the best,

The phantom power setting gives you a choice between 12 and 48 volts, could it be set to 12? I know my 416 will not even crank up on 12.

Try exporting from cakewalk at 48k 16bit if possible. I have had instances when I converted 44.1 to 48 K and brought the files into FCP and the tracks were slowed down. something to do with markers etc. If you cannot access cakewalk try soundtrack Pro and convert sample rate and bit depth. 24 bit audio in a DV timeline can sometimes cause a problem.
    Just some ideas.

Disk warrior is something for you to look at getting, It can save your butt. If you are dead in the water and need to do something – Download the latest MacOS “Combo” Update (the combo part is the Key) of the OS you are using and install. (The idea is to overwrite the corrupt file that is messing things up)
also fix permissions and safe boot afterward. (maybe sacrifice a chicken, you never know 🙂 )

    good luck,

I do not know about FCS 3 (FCP 7) but the previous versions can address one video card. It is possible that 2 cards could crash FCP.

2 ways of changing over time -1. Create identical planes (the number of images you want to use) and create corresponding textures for them. Use visibility to control when they are seen. 2. create a mov. timed out with the animation and use it as a texture in the material of a single plane.
