long shot for contact with your recorder:
You could try to load a easy setup with “dv ntsc” if your primary setting is BlackMagic.

opening the project:
I now its boring to delete render files, however it could help…

Hi,
If if you are just logging , no digitizing, i can also recommend sebskytools converting avids ALE files to finalcuts batch list.
(Because then you altso get Log notes…)
Log in avid,
remember to show media start, end , reel , log note and if there is other essential info for you.
choose export as ALE.
download Sebskeytools on your mac, and convert the file to fcp batch list…

Hi,
Im not that familiar with Avid,
however Waveform monitor you can access through the menu: Tools and Waveform Scopes
(or try hitting alt/option + 9)
and in the Layout menu you choose your point of interest. If you choose “all” Y(luminance) is in your lower left;-)

In addition Id recomend a video monitor as main reference.

Ben: thanx for the advise, will try another drive next time, however it varies when the “general error” are displayed and not:
ie:
scenario: timeline with to dv clips and a text clip that need render, in a photo Jpeg sequence, i press render=general error
I try to higlight one clip =general error
I close other open (not needed) projects and press render =general error
Next:
highlight the two dv clips= Renders Fine!
highlight the text clip= Renders Fine!

and in my world this ought not to happen if there was a diskdrive issue… or am I wrong?

Hi!

The manual way to “decode” a M(id) S(ide) recording is that you have to duplicate the Figure 8 mic, switch phase to the duplicate. And pair the two Figure 8 channels as a stereo pair (pan left – right) = the S(ide signal)
The amount of volume of the Side signal determins the “width” of the soundscape.

However I do not know if you are able to switch phase to an audio track in Fcp…

Audio programs like Pro Tools have a way to interpret audio as an MS signal so that you dont have to do it manualy…

Often its best to edit your movie, export the sound/or send it to Soundtrack Pro and do the MS decode there…

media manager version:
if you have enough plase on your disk, try the copy media option instead, delete unused media is correct (use handels if you like).
and delete the media from your original project.

or if you want to only delete clips thats not used:
select your sequense in your browser, hit apple F, and search “for: unused media” option. And make the clips offline.

Try deleting audio fades or delete renderfiles and render them again.
Is there a audio filter on audio 3 thats not in audio 1 &2
Do you have any offline/hidden clips in audio 3?
If it stops on the same clip every time you try, remove the clip from the timeline and export once more.

Ive had the same error on my system. however it dissapeared with an update a few months ago…

-The way to avoid the problem, and a safer work flow is to have autosave, thumbnail cache, waveformcace set to a local disk, not on the raid.
Workflow on your project should be to drag your project file to the desktop before you start to work, open the file from your desktop. And when you are finised that day; replace the copy on the raid (draging the file from the desktop to your projects folder.)
tip: after you have draged the project back to the raid, put the projectfile from the desktop in a map on the desktop called ” old projectfiles” instead of deleting it – so if somone else has worked on the same project that day, there is a backup somewere of both…
