FCP File Error Unknown File
Hi Guys..
I have this error almost every day.. and it’s really wired, This is what I have.
There are 3 different bays working all same setup and software latest versions of all OS, FCP and more, I have I Xserve for share working files where, and also a XserveRaid where a have my media, render files and auto save vaultMost of the time every morning all is working fine, I can open, save and autosave my projects to the server from all 3 stations, but magically afternoon, the problems start, mean I have the Unknown File error while saving, and also the kind of same error while auto save.

Ive had the same error on my system. however it dissapeared with an update a few months ago…
-The way to avoid the problem, and a safer work flow is to have autosave, thumbnail cache, waveformcace set to a local disk, not on the raid.
Workflow on your project should be to drag your project file to the desktop before you start to work, open the file from your desktop. And when you are finised that day; replace the copy on the raid (draging the file from the desktop to your projects folder.)
tip: after you have draged the project back to the raid, put the projectfile from the desktop in a map on the desktop called ” old projectfiles” instead of deleting it – so if somone else has worked on the same project that day, there is a backup somewere of both…Hope this helps you out;-)
