Yes, with either solution it would be necessary to re render it all.

If you experience the same issue in compressor again I would take section by section through compressor and see where the buggy transition or file is.

Sounds like a corrupt render file is your issue… or a reference to such.

Try making a new project: called “exorcist” or something completely different from your other project.

Create a new timeline / sequence

Copy paste all content from old timeline to new timeline. (maybe you have to take section by section because of memory usage)

A few years since l did this, so I hope l remember the “steps”.

    Hope it helps!

    Good luck!

    Hi,

What settings did you use in Compressor?

Try anti aliasing off and detail level @ 30 or 40
    With progressiv output.

    detail at 100 gives a hard image…

    Hi,
Compressor does quite a good job upconverting, if you turn frame controls on and tweaks it a bit.

Do a few tests on your own.
Some combinations gave me a white frame…

there are many tutorials out there:

    Hi,

Audio Post is a timeconsuming and important job, I do my work in protools, however you have a great program at your disposal if you have final cut studio: Soundtrack pro.

choose your sequence, right click and send to soundtrackpro.

I do not know what your audio sounds like – however you can try normalizing : https://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_stp_normalize.html

    and / or a compressor.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

Pop your video scope from the “tools” menu. Here you see luma levels in one of the four squares.
To get your actors white background to match your solid you can either match the solid by using a color picker and select the yellow white. Or you can blow out your actors background. Using for instanse 3wayCC and drag up highlights. Or use the limit function on luma, and then drag highlights up. Or apply a luma limit level filter.
Anyway it might be smart to blur the edges between the two whites.

    Hi Dan,

-In your User preferences you can sett still duration in the edit tab.
-Removing multiple dissolves is easy – select the part of the sequence with draging a lasso to mark your clips. Set an inpoint at the start of the first clip you have selected.
Drag the selected clips into the canvas and over to the “overwrite” that pops up.

[Erica Rich] “Many are quite large – like 35 mb, so I will have to see how FCP likes that.”

this is large files… try reducing them a bit for processing in FCP – or you can do their movements in motion.
lay out your timeline, choose a still or two and “send to motion” (make a copy to video track 2 first and hide it, so that you have the original in your timeline)
Save your Motion project and what you did in motion is ready in FCP.

[Erica Rich] “I will also be bringing in a few video clips, which were given to me on SD DVD or as .mov files. The quality of these clips varies, but I don’t plan to make any adjustments to the footage.”
Choose the highest SD quality you are given on your mov clips as your timeline/ sequence settings.
or choose uncompressed 10 bit 422 – this is as high as you get in SD.
(or you may choose prores if your space is low and you are on an intel mac)

video dvds (with a video_TS folder in it) you can extract the video with mpeg stream clip and export to e.g uncompressed 10bit 422.

Editing many formats together requires rendering your timeline – or you can convert everything to your prefered settings using compressor before you edit.
    your choice…

[Erica Rich] “I plan to export to SD DVD through DVD studio. It will need to be able to play on an HD TV through a standard DVD player.”

when finished editing; export your timeline and take your video into compressor. Choose SD DVD Best settings – and take your output into DVDSP.

    Have Fun!

    Hi, Erica.

It´s a nice move to FCP, if you post your specs on raw/original media and delivery/end format I may be able to guide you even further.

    Good luck with your project.
