I just got a call for a potential job where the original rough cut material has been cut on an Avid and the production company wants to bring it into their facility which is a FCP house. I know there is Automatic Duck which they mentioned and are willing to spring for if need be but I’ve also heard that it’s not the most problem free solution. Anyone have experience doing this? Thanks.”

The Duck is the ONLY way to bring an Avid project into FCP with any ease. Version 2.0 of the importer added Avid Text conversion to FCP text and better recognition of some effects.

I’ve been using the Duck two years now bringing Avid OMF’s into our FCP system for online and HD conform. It’s one of the most problem free applications I use and was paid for when the first master went out the door.

    Hi William,

I agree with Walter! However if its just the clips (not the rough cut) you want from Avid to FCP; anoter solution would be the great Sebsky tools:
