Hi Spot and thanks.

What do I need to downconvert to SD then? Software or hardware?

Right now that camera sounds good and has some great reviews. Would be nice and compact to take to China wih me. Unless I have some technical video to shoot there.

I should start thinking about 16/9 wide angle for my tourist videos.

I’ll try it. Main reason for my asking was I recorded some audio off my internet radio station and wanted to put some of the tracks in my iPod. I’m figuring if I got more than 1 track 1 and so forth, they might conflict but haven’t tried it there either. iTunes don’t have these Polka tracks. 😉 Wierd me! I’m into Polka and Cajun music. Happy snappy foot tappin’ stuff.

I just assumed by naming the tracks in Vegas, they would show up on a CD. Oh well, Life’s a constant learning experience!

However when I purchase a CD or buy something off iTunes, the actual track name shows up.

Oh well, from those links you provided, I can see I got a lot more reading to do.

Why don’t you Google for “Royality Free Music” or Buy-out Music” or a combination of both? There’s hundreds, if not thousands of sites out there for this kind of music.

Two that come to mind immediately that I use are music2hues.com and CSS music (Dawn Music). There’s 4 or 5 that I personally use because they have the specialized type of music I need.

You’ll have to narrow down the type of music your looking for by visiting each site and see who’s got more of what you want at a price you want to pay.

I personally prefer AVG’s Internet Security suite. I don’t have to shut it down when working with Vegas.

I used to use their free Anti Virus but when they changed everything around and came out with the complete suites I decided to pay for it. It’s the only software firewall I haven’t had problems with and doesn’t conflict with anything else I have which most other’s did and I’ve tried 3 or 4 software firewalls including Zone Alarm. You start mixing and matching security software and you’re bound to have conflicts. All I have now is AVG and Spybot. No more conflicts!

My video editing machine doesn’t go on the internet anyway except to update software. I have a slower, ‘junk’ machine for the internet.

Yes, it’s a bear removing Norton but I’d get it out as soon as possible and make sure you got it all. You’ll have to manually remove some stuff and before you do anything in the registry, back it up. The posts above tell you what to do.

It’s probably the codec you choose when you converted it. Vegas might not have that particular codec. Do you have the option to choose another?

I get a choice of codecs so I just kmake sure I use one that Vegas can understand. If I remember correctly, I”ve been choosing the CinePak codec. Been using this program for years and it works great.

I’ve tried others but didn’t care for the quality of the resulting video.

Also if you look around DJ’s site, there are step-by-step tutorials for using DJ products in Vegas. Both Printed and I believe a video that you can download. Check out their DJTV area and search for Vegas.

Actually as Terry says above, once you learn the basics of setting the Alpha Channel in Vegas (Vegas works differently that other editing programs) you’ll find all the DJ products work about the same and are fun to use.

There’s also a Vegas Forum at DJ for Vegas users.

Yea, this latest project was analog capture through Canopus ADVC100 from VHS tape Composit cables, not S-vid cable. The original VHS was recorded off a DirectTV Satellite of a TV program. To be homest, I never actually watched that video on the big screen TV.

Specs of encoding. 30″ video. MPEG-2 (DVDA NTSC) default was 9,500,000 – 6,000,000 – 195,000 I used 8,000,000 – 6,000,000 – 2,000,000 Rest of it was standard DVD specs Audio AC-3 VBR 2pass encoding. It was a equine video so some fast motion and some slow motion. That’s why I choose VBR 2-pass.

I don’t know why V8Pro recommended a 9,500 high. I was taught that thyue highest you should ever go was 8,000,000 IN fact V7 and below showed that.

All encoded in Vegas 8 pro. It wassn’t horribly fuzzy, just fuzzy and not sharp like when we watched it on the old SD 32″ TV’s.

I’ve noticed that all my stuff since I got that big screen TV does this. Even some old VHS and DVD movies I can’t watch. I got to watch them on the old Panasonic 23″ TV downstairs.

So maybe I got to live with it?

Yes, Definately check what Charles said above. Make sure your key-frames are at the right spot that you want them. The timecode of the keyframes in track motion or event pan/crop should match the timecode on the timeline.

Also right click on a keyframe and see what kind of keyframe you got there. There’s a lot of different motion choices for keyframes. Make sure you checked the type you wanted.

All the Shuttle Pro prefs are already inside each Vegas Folder. If you want 7 or 8 go to that folder on your HD and copy them over to the Shuttle folder where the others are.

You don’t need to go to Contour’s website for those.
